Are you looking for a way to help your child learn social-emotional and critical thinking skills? Check out chess! You and your kiddo will learn the foundations of the game using a "Win or Learn" approach to beginner chess - and life. Learn how pieces move, basic concepts and essential strategies for starting and finishing a game. Includes a review of the previous week, introduction of the new lesson, followed by free play. Pilot program sponsored by the KCLS Foundation. In partnership with Chess4Life. Ages 5 to 9 with adult. Registration required. Discover new stories, rhymes and songs in this fun-filled, half-hour program designed to build early literacy skills as your child gets ready to read. Fun free shows in place of Story Time on June 17, July 1 and 15. All ages welcome with adult. Story Times will be held outdoors at the Covington Community Park Stage. The stage has a roof, but we will be outdoors so dress for the weather.  In the case of inclement weather, excessive heat, or if the air quality is deemed unhealthy to sensitive populations, we will meet in the Covington Library Story Time Room and the change will be posted on the Covington Library Facebook page by 10am that morning.  Registration not required.
